Reverse description A crowned numeral-style denomination reading 'SIX PENCE' appears at the center of the field, enclosed within a wreath of oak leaves and acorns tied at the base with a ribbon bow. A royal crown surmounts the denomination. The date is placed in the exergue below the wreath, and on certain issues a small die number appears above the date. The design, attributed to Jean Baptiste Merlen, is framed by a beaded border.
