| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King George VI, modelled by Thomas Humphrey Paget, occupies the central field. The king is depicted with a naturalistically rendered short hairstyle and a plain truncation at the shoulder. The engraver's initials 'HP' appear discreetly at the lower truncation. The surrounding legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR, disposed along the upper and lower periphery within a fine beaded border. |
