| Obverse description | Right-facing bare-headed effigy of King George VI, designed by Percy Metcalfe. The king is depicted in a formal portrait style with a plain truncation at the shoulder. The encircling legend reads GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR around the upper periphery, with the abbreviated title PM completing the inscription.
