| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Edward VII facing right, modelled by George William de Saulles, with naturalistically rendered hair and short beard. The truncation of the bust is cut cleanly at the neck, with the engraver's initials 'DES' visible below. A continuous Latin legend encircles the portrait within a fine beaded border, reading clockwise from the lower left. The portrait is rendered in high relief with bold modelling typical of Edwardian coinage. |
