Obverse description Draped bust of Queen Anne facing left, her hair elaborately dressed with a flower ornament and flowing locks secured by a ribbon, engraved in high relief after the style of John Croker. The word VIGO appears prominently below the bust, commemorating silver captured from the Spanish treasure fleet at the Battle of Vigo Bay in 1702. The circular Latin legend reads ANNA·DEI·GRATIA, divided around the portrait. The field is smooth and the coin displays fine milled reeding at the rim.
