| Obverse description | Draped bust of Duke Frederick I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg facing right, wearing a long flowing allonge wig with elaborate curls cascading over the shoulders and richly ornamented armor with decorative drapery at the truncation. The effigy occupies the central field and is rendered in high relief in the late Baroque style. A circular Latin legend surrounding the bust reads the ruler's name and abbreviated ducal titles. |
