Obverse description The obverse features a central legend in three lines within an inner circle, reading '* VI * / MARIEN / GROSCH:' with the date '1715.' below and the mintmaster initials 'H.C.B.' at the base. The denomination is prominently displayed in bold Roman and Latin lettering within the flat field. A circular outer legend surrounds the inner circle, reading '* GEORG:LUD:D.G.D.B.&.L.S.R.I.AR.TH.&.EL *', identifying the issuer as George Louis, Elector of Hanover and Archtreasurer of the Holy Roman Empire. The design is entirely typographic, with no portraiture, and the legends are separated by dot stops in the style typical of early eighteenth-century German States coinage.
