| Additional information |
Württemberg-Oels was a minor Silesian duchy held by a Protestant cadet branch of the Württemberg line, perpetually caught between Habsburg pressure and the aftermath of the Thirty Years' War. Sylvius II Frederick ruled from 1668 until his death in 1697, presiding over a territory so small and financially constrained that its coinage output was sparse by any measure. The 1678–1679 dating places this issue squarely within the broader Imperial coinage reforms being contested across the German states following the Leipzig Kreisschluss of 1667.
Ebner#54a suggests a minor die variant within the type.
