| Additional information |
Rudolf II showed almost no personal interest in administrative governance, leaving much of the Alsatian territory's financial management to the Ensisheim chamber. The 6 Kreuzer denomination was a workhorse of small silver trade across the Upper Rhine corridor during this period, circulating alongside similar issues from Sundgau and the Breisgau into a market that cared little for political boundaries.
The thirteen-year span of this type reflects production continuity under Habsburg provincial administration rather than any single mint decision — Ensisheim remained the issuing authority throughout Rudolf's reign despite his growing incapacitation by mental illness after roughly 1600.
