| Additional information |
Leopold I issued substantial quantities of 6 Kreuzer pieces through the provincial mints during the early 1670s, partly to meet the chronic small-change shortage that plagued the hereditary lands following the disruptions of the Thirty Years' War and its long economic aftermath. Klagenfurt, as the administrative capital of Carinthia, operated its own mint under imperial authority, giving these coins a distinct regional character within the broader Habsburg minting apparatus.
KM#1257 is specific to the Klagenfurt facility — the mintmaster's mark distinguishes it from contemporaneous 6 Kreuzer output at Graz and Vienna.
