Additional information

Franz I ruled as Holy Roman Emperor in name, but real fiscal authority in Vienna belonged to Maria Theresa, who inherited a treasury nearly bankrupted by the War of the Austrian Succession. The 6 Kreuzer issues of this period were part of her broader monetary reform push — billon fractions like this one were struck in quantity to address chronic small-change shortages that had plagued Bohemian and Austrian markets since the 1730s.

The .438 fineness places this well below the older Kreuzer standards, a deliberate debasement justified by wartime debt servicing rather than any reform principle.
