| Obverse description | The Baden coat of arms — a diagonally divided shield bearing the characteristic gold and red diagonal stripes — is displayed at center, draped within an ermine-lined mantle and surmounted by a grand ducal crown. The shield is supported on either side by ornate drapery falling to the lower field. The circular legend reads GROSSHERZOGTHUM BADEN around the upper periphery, with the date 1816 flanked by two small stars at the base. |
