Obverse description Central field displays the crowned quartered arms of Saxe-Meiningen, surmounted by a ducal crown with cross finial and flanked on either side by the mint initials 'S' and 'M' in the field. The shield features the traditional Ernestine Saxon arms with alternating horizontal bars and bezants, overlaid by a central escutcheon with a rampant lion. The date 1827 appears in the exergue below the shield. A beaded border frames the entire design.
