Additional information

Further Austria — the scattered Habsburg territories west of the Tyrol, centered on Freiburg im Breisgau — was ceded to Napoleon's allied states in 1805 under the Peace of Pressburg, ending Habsburg administration of the region permanently. This coin was struck in the final years before that transfer, when Franz II was simultaneously the last Holy Roman Emperor and, from 1804, the first Emperor of Austria — a dual title he held for just two years before dissolving the millennium-old Reich entirely under French pressure.
