Additional information

Ferdinand III of Tuscany arrived in Salzburg in 1803 as the territory's new ruler — compensation arranged under the Lunéville settlement for his loss of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany to Napoleon's reorganization of Italy. His reign there lasted barely two years before the Napoleonic restructuring swallowed Salzburg entirely into the French-controlled German territories. This billon 6 Kreutzer belongs entirely to that compressed interlude, struck for a jurisdiction Ferdinand held only as a consolation prize.
