| Additional information |
Margaret of Marck-Arenberg governed the duchy as regent following the death of her husband Jean de Ligne in 1568, navigating the turbulent early decades of the Dutch Revolt while maintaining nominal loyalty to the Spanish Crown. The Heller denominations she issued represent some of the few coins struck under female regency authority in the small German ecclesiastical and secular lordships of this period. Arenberg's mint output during her regency was limited, and pieces bearing her name are correspondingly scarce in any grade.
