| Reverse description | The reverse field is entirely filled with a bold multi-line Arabic inscription in Naskh script, reading: 'Mubarakshah al-sultan bin al-sultan al-wathiq billah amir al-mu'minin', identifying the ruler as Sultan Mubarakshah, son of the Sultan, Confidant of God and Commander of the Faithful. The legend asserts the sultan's claim to the Caliphate, an exceptional political statement unique to Qutb al-Din Mubarak Shah's coinage. The flan is irregularly shaped, with the inscription extending to the very edge, as is typical of hammered Delhi Sultanate billon coins of this period. |
