Obverse description Richly detailed draped bust of Frederick William, Elector of Brandenburg, facing right, wearing a voluminous long wig of tightly curled locks falling to the shoulders in the late Baroque fashion, with armor visible at the shoulder and an ornate lace cravat at the neck. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine engraving detail. The legend runs along the upper periphery within a beaded inner border: FRID WILH D G M B S R IMP ARCHIC & EL, identifying the ruler as Elector and Archchamberlain of the Holy Roman Empire. The coin field is flat and unadorned, focusing attention entirely on the portrait.
