| Obverse description | Central field bears the name and titles of Taghay Temur enclosed within a rounded hexafoil border, with small circles inscribed at each of the six points. The Arabic legends in naskh script are arranged in multiple registers within the hexafoil, reading: al-Sulṭān al-ʿĀlim al-ʿĀdil Taghay Temur Khān, khallada Allāh mulkahu (Sultan of the World, the Just and Learned, Taghay Temur Khan, may God perpetuate his rule). The mint name Jurjan and the Hijri date 739 (AH) appear in the marginal legend between the points of the hexafoil, with the additional reference to Astarabad noted in the outer margin. |

Surrounding the central field in the margin are the names of the four Rightly Guided (Rashidun) Caliphs, arranged clockwise: Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, ʿUthmān, and ʿAlī.
