Obverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic religious inscription arranged within an ornate cartouche with foliate or arabesque decorative borders. The Shahada is presented in the uppermost register, followed by the name of the Prophet Muhammad, and then the names of the four Orthodox Caliphs — Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali — in descending lines. The whole is enclosed within a beaded inner border and an outer border of decorative pellets, typical of late Ilkhanid hammered silver coinage. The script is executed in a bold, angular Naskh style characteristic of Persian mint production of the mid-14th century.
