Abu Sa'id Bahadur Khan inherited the Ilkhanate in 1316 at roughly twelve years old, the last ruler of the dynasty to hold the realm in anything resembling coherence. The Type C designation within Album 2199 reflects a mid-to-late reign die variation associated with the mature phase of his administration, after the execution of the powerful amir Choban in 1327 left Abu Sa'id as the first Ilkhan in decades to exercise something close to personal authority.
He died in 1335 without an heir, and the dynasty fragmented almost immediately into competing successor states. Coins struck in his name continued circulating across the fractured successor polities well after his death.
