Reverse description A tall fasces — a bound bundle of rods surmounted by an axe blade and topped with a Phrygian liberty cap — dominates the central field as the principal device, symbolising republican liberty and civic authority. The denomination 6 C. is displayed on either side of the fasces, flanking it in the mid-field. The circular legend LIBERTE EGALITE arcs across the upper periphery, while AN.43, denoting Year 43 of Haitian independence (1846), appears in the lower exergual area, with a small star to the right. A beaded border frames the entire design.
