| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the crowned Este-Modena quartered coat of arms, flanked by elaborate cartouche scrollwork and supported by decorative mantling. The shield displays the heraldic quarterings of the Este dynasty, surmounted by a ducal crown. A circular legend in Latin runs along the inner border, with a fine beaded outer border encircling the entire design. A small circular hole is present at the left of the field, indicative of post-minting use as a pendant. |
