Obverse description Youthful right-facing draped bust of Louis XIV, his hair flowing in long locks adorned with a laurel wreath, set within a beaded inner border. The king is portrayed in the idealized style characteristic of early Louis XIV coinage, with the bust truncated at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads LVD. XIIII. D G. FR. ET. NAVAR. REX., identifying the monarch as Louis XIV, by the Grace of God, King of France and Navarre.
