Obverse description Half-cut Spanish colonial silver coin bearing the upper semicircular portion of the host piece. The legend CAROLUS IIII arcs along the milled border at the top. The partial design of the host coin is visible in the field, showing remnants of a figural motif. Three applied countermarks are stamped into the flat cut face: the numeral '6' at lower left, a horseshoe-shaped mark at center, and a rectangular cartouche bearing the letters 'GS' at lower right.
