Comments

Municipal and commercial parking operators across Quebec issued small-denomination cardboard vouchers throughout the mid-to-late twentieth century as a practical alternative to coin-only meters — this piece from the Chauveau and Sainte-Anne corner lot in Quebec City is a characteristic example of that localized, entirely ephemeral system. These were never intended to survive. Most ended up discarded on dashboards or swept from booths at the end of the season, which makes any intact survivor more interesting to the exonumia collector than the face value suggests.
