Obverse description The obverse features the Polish state eagle — a stylized white eagle with a crowned head, wings spread, displayed centrally in the field. The denomination 5000 flanked by the złoty abbreviation ZŁ appears in large numerals in the lower portion of the field. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs along the upper periphery, with the date 19 87 divided at either side of the eagle. The mintmark MW appears beneath the eagle. The design is struck in high relief with a polished proof-like finish consistent with a trial strike.
