Obverse description The obverse features the crowned Polish eagle, the national arms of the Polish People's Republic, displayed with wings spread and head turned to the right, rendered in high relief at center. The date 1988 is divided on either side of the eagle's body, with the mint mark (MW) appearing below. The denomination '5000 ZŁ' is inscribed in large numerals along the lower portion of the field. The circular legend 'POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA' arcs around the upper periphery, flanked by dot ornaments, with the denomination repeated as '·ZŁ 5000 ZŁ·' completing the inscription.
