| Obverse description | A central vignette occupies the left portion of the note, presenting a steam locomotive crossing a large multi-span river bridge, rendered in a fine lithographic style with earthy brown tones against a light blue-grey underprint. The bank title 中國人民銀行 is inscribed across the upper centre, flanked by ornate corner guilloche panels bearing the denomination 伍仟 in Chinese characters.
