Reverse description A large multicoloured enamel anniversary logo dominates the central field, depicting a stylised numeral '50' integrated with a swirling taegeuk-inspired motif rendered in blue, red, orange, light blue, and green enamel inlays, evoking dynamic movement and continuity. The circular legend 'THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BANK OF KOREA' runs along the upper periphery in Latin script. The denomination '5000 WON' is inscribed in the lower central field, with the date '2000' appearing along the bottom rim. A decorative row of small dots punctuates the inner border at the lower portion of the field.

Additional information

Issued to mark the turn of the millennium, this is a commemorative piece rather than a circulating coin — the 5,000 won denomination had no everyday monetary role, and the bronze-with-enamel construction made it unsuitable for vending machines or cash registers. South Korea's commemorative program expanded significantly through the 1990s, partly driven by the mint's efforts to recover prestige following the economic crisis of 1997–98, when the won collapsed and the country accepted a $58 billion IMF bailout. The enamel inlay was produced at the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation facility in Daejeon.
