Reverse description The reverse presents a vignette of the archaeological site of Afrosiyob, the ancient city near Samarkand dating to the 8th–5th centuries BC, with a 10th-century pottery jug and an embossed ceramic bowl recovered from the Afrosiyob excavations shown at right. The composition is set against a fine guilloche underprint, with the denomination and issuing authority lettering arranged along the upper and lower borders.
