Obverse description Central field features the Somali national coat of arms: a quartered shield bearing a five-pointed star, flanked by two leopards rampant as supporters, the whole surmounted by a mural crown and resting on a foliate base. The bilingual legend SOMALI REPUBLIC arcs along the upper periphery in Latin script, with the Arabic equivalent جمهورية الصومال inscribed beneath it in the upper field.
