| Obverse description | Central composition features the full-color emblem of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka rendered in red and yellow, occupying the center of the field. The dates 1950–2010 appear below the emblem, commemorating the institution's 60th anniversary. A trilingual legend reading CENTRAL BANK OF SRI LANKA in Tamil, Sinhala, and English runs along the upper periphery within a beaded rim. The coin is struck in frosted proof finish on sterling silver to British crown coin dimensions, with color imagery applied by printing directly onto the coin surface. |

Issued to mark the 60th anniversary of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, which was established in 1950 under the Monetary Law Act — itself drafted with direct technical assistance from the IMF during Ceylon's transition toward fuller economic self-governance after independence. The bank opened its doors on 28 August 1950 with John Exter, a former Federal Reserve officer, as its first Governor.
