| Obverse description | Central vignette bears the double-headed eagle arms of the Don Cossack Host enclosed within an oval cartouche at left, with the inscription ВСЕВЕЛИКОЕ ВОЙСКО ДОНСКОЕ beneath. The note is a 5% short-term obligation (краткосрочное обязательство) dated 1 January 1919, with the denomination РУБ 5000 printed in the upper right corner and the value ПЯТЬ ТЫСЯЧ РУБ in text. Series АВ and a low serial number appear in manuscript, with place and date of issue given as Novocherkassk, 1 October 1919. |

The Vsevelikoye Voysko Donskoye — the Don Cossack Host — issued its own currency throughout the Civil War period as the White-aligned Cossack government in Novocherkassk functioned as a quasi-independent state under Ataman Krasnov and later Bogaevsky. Printing locally rather than relying on Denikin's Volunteer Army supply chain was a deliberate assertion of political autonomy, one that created persistent friction between the Don government and the broader White command.
At 5,000 Roubles, this is among the highest denominations in the Don series — a direct response to the hyperinflationary conditions accelerating through 1919 as the southern front collapsed. The handstamp security feature reflects the limited anti-counterfeiting infrastructure available in Novocherkassk at the time.
