Additional information

This is the largest coin the Royal Mint produces in its standard bullion and proof program — a five-kilogram, 175mm slab of four-nines gold that exists primarily as a prestige object for institutional collectors and sovereign wealth buyers. The Royal Mint has offered this denomination in the St George series for several years, but the transition to Charles III obverse makes 2024 examples the first of this format under the new reign, a distinction that tends to drive early demand regardless of artistic considerations.

Mintage is typically single digits or low double digits. Most examples never leave their capsules.
