| Obverse description | The central vignette presents a brown pelican as the principal motif, with a land tortoise and a marine iguana rendered in the background underprint. Flowering branches of Tournefortia pubescens, a plant endemic to the Galápagos archipelago, occupy the right-hand panel. A Latin aphorism, Ducunt volentem fata, nolentem trahunt, is inscribed across the note, complemented by bilingual legends in Spanish and English and a date of 7 April 2021. |

No such institution as the "Galapagos Central Bank" exists. Ecuador's currency authority is the Banco Central del Ecuador, which dollarized the economy in 2000 and has not issued sucres — new or otherwise — since then. A 5000 Nuevos Sucres note dated 2021 on polymer stock does not correspond to any known legitimate issue. This is either a fantasy note, a novelty souvenir item, or a test piece with no standing as genuine currency.
