| Obverse description | Grey-brown note with a central vignette portrait of Johan Vilhelm Snellman (1806–1881), Finnish statesman, nationalist philosopher, and Finance Minister instrumental in establishing the Markka in 1860. A large numeral '5000' occupies the centre field, with denomination in words in both Finnish and Swedish arranged below, the series year 1945 printed directly beneath, and two authorising signatures at the lower centre.
