| Obverse description | Highly detailed front-facing effigy of William Shakespeare rendered in high relief, depicting the playwright with characteristic collar ruff and period doublet, his facial features closely modelled after the Droeshout engraving. The name WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE and the inscription 400 FIRST FOLIO appear in stylised lettering along the lower portion of the field. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN arcs along the upper left, with the date 2023 at lower left and the denomination 5000 FRANCS CFA along the right, accompanied by the fineness notation 5 oz Ag 999. The mint engraver's mark XXI appears at lower left of the portrait. The coin is struck in antique finish, lending the deeply sculpted design a dramatic, aged appearance. |
