Additional information

The BEAC issues currency on behalf of six Central African states — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — under a monetary union whose franc is pegged to the euro via a fixed-rate agreement with France dating to the post-colonial settlements of 1972. The "Tiger Hunt II" belongs to a collector series with no circulation mandate; these are struck for the numismatic export market and do not enter the CFA franc zone as legal tender in any practical sense.

Tigers are not native to Africa. The subject matter is purely commercial, aimed at Asian collector markets where big-cat themes command consistent premiums.
