| Reverse description | The iconic golden funerary mask of the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun is rendered in fine detail at the centre of the square flan, depicting the nemes headdress with its characteristic striped lappets, the royal uraeus and vulture on the brow, and the ceremonial false beard. A decorative field of Egyptian hieroglyphic motifs surrounds the central image on both sides, and a cartouche containing hieroglyphic characters is prominently displayed to the lower right. At 0.16 grams, this is among the smallest gold coins in modern circulation issues — a format popularized by the Austrian Mint's "gold philharmonic" fractionals and subsequently adopted by a handful of African CFA-zone issuers working with European minting houses, typically Geiger Edelmetalle or B.H. Mayer's. Chad itself issues no coinage through domestic production; these pieces are contracted abroad and sold almost entirely to the collector and bullion novelty market rather than circulating in N'Djamena or anywhere else.
