Chad has issued commemorative silver under the BEAC framework since the early 2000s, though many pieces bearing its name were struck entirely for the collector export market with no circulation intent whatsoever. This piece honoring St. Seraphim of Sarov — the 18th-century Russian Orthodox monk canonized in 1903 amid enormous popular pressure on Nicholas II — has no meaningful connection to Chad itself. The country functions here purely as a licensing authority.
Seraphim died in 1833, found kneeling in prayer.
