Reverse description A Black Rhinoceros is depicted in bold relief at the center of the design, its body adorned with an intricate mandala-style geometric pattern incorporating floral and symmetrical motifs throughout. The denomination legend is inscribed in a curved arc across the upper field, while the fineness designation appears flanking the central device on both sides. The weight specification is inscribed along the lower portion of the field beneath the rhinoceros, completing the compositional framing of the wildlife subject.

Additional information

The Bank of Central African States issues commemorative coinage on behalf of six member nations — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — none of which maintain independent minting infrastructure. These pieces are struck under contract by private mints in Europe and distributed almost exclusively through the numismatic market, never entering general circulation in the issuing territories.

The CFA franc itself has been pegged to the euro since 1999, before that to the French franc, a monetary arrangement that dates to 1945 and remains politically contentious across the zone.
