The "Grizzly" branding on West African CFA franc issues has drawn persistent scrutiny from collectors — grizzly bears have no geographic or cultural connection to Côte d'Ivoire, and these coins are produced almost exclusively for the European bullion and novelty market rather than domestic circulation.
