Obverse description Central field features a stylized sunburst or spiral motif from which radiate multiple curved text lines bearing titles of works by János Arany, arranged in a fan-like pattern across the entire field. The legend 'MAGYARORSZÁG' arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination '5000 FORINT' appears in bold lettering along the lower portion of the field. Below the denomination, a further inscription reads '·REPÜL A NEHÉZ KI TUDJA HOL ÁLL MEG·', a quotation evoking the poet's literary legacy. The mint mark 'BP.' and date '2017' are positioned to the right, near the inner border. The overall design is executed in high relief with a polished proof finish.

Reverse description The reverse features a finely detailed right-facing bust portrait of the Hungarian poet János Arany, rendered in high relief with careful attention to his characteristic moustache and period attire including a high collar. The legend 'ARANY JÁNOS' is inscribed in two lines to the upper right of the portrait in a distinctive stylized typeface. To the lower left of the bust, the dates '1817' and '1882', denoting the poet's birth and death years, appear in a small cartouche. The portrait is executed in a realistic, sculptural style befitting a commemorative proof issue, with the polished field providing strong contrast to the raised effigy.
