| Obverse description | Central design features the coat of arms of the Republic of Armenia — a double-headed eagle displayed, bearing a shield quartered with national symbols including Mount Ararat with Noah's Ark, a lion, and an eagle, surmounted by a sword, branch, and chain — rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. Issued to mark the fourteenth anniversary of the Armenian Armed Forces, formally established in 1991 following the Soviet collapse and immediately tested by the ongoing war with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh. A ceasefire had been reached in 1994, but no peace treaty was ever signed, leaving the Armenian military in a state of sustained operational readiness that gave this commemorative a less ceremonial weight than most anniversary issues of its type.
