| Obverse description | A detailed architectural view of the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre occupies the central field, rendered in finely engraved relief, depicting the grand tiered structure with its arched façade, stepped seating, and flanking colonnades. Above the amphitheatre, a curved Arabic legend reads 'مصرف الإمارات العربية المتحدة المركزي' (Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates), with a second line below identifying it as a commemorative coin ('مسكوكة تذكارية'). Beneath the central motif, the venue name 'مدرج خورفكان' (Khorfakkan Amphitheatre) is inscribed in a prominent Arabic script. The denomination '5000' appears in the lower field, flanked by the Hijri year '١٤٤٢' and the Gregorian year '٢٠٢٠', with the Arabic word 'درهم' (Dirhams) below. Along the lower rim, the Latin legend 'CENTRAL BANK OF THE U.A.E.' completes the design. |

| Additional information |
The Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, completed in 2016 on the Gulf of Oman coastline, is one of the few open-air performance venues in the UAE built directly against a mountain face — a genuine geographical accident that gives it unusually strong natural acoustics. Khorfakkan itself is an exclave of Sharjah, physically separated from the emirate's main territory by Fujairah, a jurisdictional quirk inherited from pre-federation tribal boundaries that the 1971 union simply formalized rather than resolved.
The 5000-dirham denomination places this firmly in commemorative territory, struck for collectors rather than circulation.
