The Republic of Serbian Krajina was a self-declared state that controlled portions of Croatian territory during the early 1990s conflict and was never recognized by any foreign government. Its currency, produced in Belgrade by ZIN, was entirely dependent on Serbian political and material support — these notes were, in practical terms, printed by Serbia for a state that existed only through Serbian military backing.
Circulation was chaotic. Hyperinflationary pressure meant high denominations became obsolete within months of issue, and the 5000 Dinara was no exception. The RSK monetary system collapsed well before the state itself did in August 1995.
