This issue marks the final year of the Qājār monetary system operating under a new master. Rezā Khān had deposed Ahmad Shah in late 1925 and declared himself Rezā Shāh Pahlavī, founding a new dynasty — but the mint did not immediately overhaul the coinage infrastructure. These transitional-year pieces were struck on the existing silver standard inherited from the late Qājār period, a practical continuity that belied the violent political rupture above it.
The 5000 Dīnār denomination was effectively the five-qirān piece, the workhorse of Iranian silver coinage since the mid-nineteenth century. Within a few years Rezā Shāh would undertake a full monetary reform, retiring the dīnār-denominated system entirely.
