Obverse description The coat of arms of Equatorial Guinea occupies the central field, depicting a shield charged with a silk-cotton tree (Ceiba pentandra) above a field of water, surmounted by an arc of six six-pointed stars representing the mainland and island territories. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto UNIDAD PAZ JUSTICIA. The date '80 appears in a star at the lower left, and the fineness mark '0.917' is inscribed at the lower right. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE GUINEA ECUATORIAL runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 5.000 BIPKWELE is prominently displayed along the lower rim, all within a beaded border.
