| Obverse description | The Polish state eagle of the People's Republic, displayed with wings spread and talons clasped, occupies the central field, flanked by the mint date 19-88 at the lower sides of the design. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination ZŁ 500 ZŁ appears prominently in the lower exergue.
